Albert Paul Gibes 1930-2025 Albert Gibes, aged 95, passed away peacefully at his home in Tucson, Arizona on December 2, 2025. Born on September 23, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of John and Anastasia Gibes. He was a long-time resident of Tucson, Arizona, where he worked as a television broadcast engineer for KOLD-TV on Mount Bigelow until his retirement in 1992.
Growing up on a farm near Lark’s Lake, Michigan, Al attended Pellston High School. After graduating, he served on ships on the Great Lakes before enlisting in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Following his discharge, Al worked as a television repair technician and a radio broadcast engineer in Pekin, Illinois, prior to moving to Tucson in 1969.
He was the devoted husband to Margaret Rose (nee Barra) for sixty-one years, the loving father to Lynne Stott (William), Karen McEwen (William), Kenneth (Aurora), William (Arcira), Lori Conner (Edred), and Stephen (Veronica). He was blessed with eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Al greatly enjoyed family gatherings, where he organized games for the kids and entertained everyone with stories, Polish sayings, jokes, and trivia.
Al will best be remembered by his passion for fishing, modeling, wood carving, art, golf and billiards. He was a lifelong Amateur Radio Operator, a Master Model Railroader, a Boy Scout Troop Leader, and a Little League softball coach.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Margaret and his youngest child Stephen. He is survived by his daughters Lynne, Karen and Lori, and his sons Kenneth and William.
Services will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 2727 W Tangerine Rd, Oro Valley, on Monday, December 15 th beginning with a rosary at 10:30 am, followed by Mass at 11:00 am. Afterwards, a reception will be held at St. Odilia Catholic Church hall, 7570 N Paseo del Norte, Tucson, starting at 12:30.
