Chuck was born on October 28, 1946 in Lincoln NE and died on July 3, 2025 inHonolulu, Hawaii while on holiday. His greatest loves were God, the Catholic Church, and his wife Leona, his “Kolbet”. They were married on May 30, 1971, and Chuck came into full community with the Catholic Church on Holy Saturday, April 23, 2011.
Chuck received his Under Graduate Degree from Doane University, Crete, NE (private university, founded in 1872 and affiliated with the United Church of Christ) and his Graduate Degree from the University of Nebraska. They lived in Lincoln, NE, and Chuck worked for the Nebraska Department of Transportation, as an accountant, internal and external auditor. His part-time “job” for over 25 years was a football official. Starting at high schools, small colleges, then practices at the University of Nebraska (UNL). During UNL’s 1980 “glory” years, Chuck and another official (with their wives) travelled to major bowl games with the official travel party. Ten to fourteen days, officiating the UNL football practices during the day, and enjoying the hospitality of the host cities in the evening, and then the Bowl Game.
Chuck and Leona retired to Marana, AZ in 2007. Chuck played tennis, swam, exercised diligently, and watched about all sports on his numerous TVs and electronic devices Travelling in the summer to “get out” of the heat of AZ in the summer was top priority. He was the travel agent for trips to Germany, France, Switzerland, and our beautiful United States of American, especially the Hale Koa Hotel in Hawaii. He was also an ad-hoc member of numerous of Leona’s volunteer committees.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 2nd, at 10AM with the Rosary at 9:30AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, Oro Valley. Reception in St. Mark Narthex immediately following the Mass.
