Very Reverend Edward F. Lucero

Biography

The Very Reverend Edward F. Lucero, a priest of the Diocese of Tucson, serves as Vicar General and Co-Moderator of the Curia and Pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Oro Valley, AZ. In his work at the diocese, he focuses on the diocesan Offices of Formation & Spirituality and Vocations, Clergy Life, & Communications.

Father Lucero, 59, was born in Glendale, California. Before entering the seminary, he served as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army with the 3rd Infantry Division. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University. He later attended the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary near Chicago, Illinois, where he earned a Master of Divinity and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology. He was ordained a deacon in 2007 and a priest for the Diocese of Tucson on June 7, 2008.

Since his ordination, Father Lucero has served in several parish assignments throughout the diocese, including as parochial vicar of Immaculate Conception Parish in Yuma; parish administrator of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Solomon; and pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Safford, St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Payson, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Tucson, and St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Oro Valley.

In addition to his parish ministry, Father Lucero has held several diocesan leadership roles. He currently serves on the Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, the Diocesan Finance Council, and the Priest Personnel Board.
